Algeria takes note of the new resolution on the Question of Western Sahara that the United Nations Security Council has just adopted.
It notes with great satisfaction that this resolution reaffirms, once more, with clarity, in its preamble and in its operative part, that there is no other solution to this conflict, than that which ensures the exercise by the people of the Sahara Western to its inalienable right to self-determination.
It can therefore only welcome the full support of the Security Council to the Secretary General and his Personal Envoy to revive, with a new dynamic and a new spirit, negotiations with a view to reaching a just, lasting and mutually acceptable political solution that will provide for the self-determination of the people of Western Sahara.
As it can only join the appeal of the Security Council to both parties to the conflict, the Kingdom of Morocco and the Polisario Front, to resume negotiations, without preconditions and in good faith, with a view to achieve a just, lasting and mutually acceptable political solution that provides for the self-determination of the people of Western Sahara.
In this regard, it expresses the hope that the renewal of the Minurso mandate for a period of six months will encourage both parties to the conflict to take part, as soon as possible and without delay, in the fifth round of negotiations that the Personal Envoy of the Secretary General has undertaken and is actively engaged in organizing.
As far as it is concerned, as it has always done, Algeria, as a neighboring State, will continue to give its full support to the efforts of the Secretary General and his Personnel Envoy and his full contribution to the success of their efforts
