PUSL.- The Coordination of the Associations of the Saharawi Community in France and the French Platform of Solidarity with the People of the Western Sahara will organize a demonstration on 12th October at the Place de la République in Paris between 3pm and 7pm.
This action a few days before the UN Security Council meeting to discuss the UN Mission in Western Sahara intends to alert public opinion and the United Nations to the unsustainable situation to which the Saharawi people are exposed in the occupied territories.
France has been an ally of Morocco and has consecutively prevented the inclusion in the United Nations Mission’s mandate of protecting the Saharawi population in the territories of Western Sahara occupied by Morocco.
The organizers declare that this manifestation is:
- Against human rights violations in the occupied territories and in southern Morocco against the Saharawi population
- Demand from the Security Council that the UN Mission on the ground (MINURSO) has included in its mandate the protection of the Saharawi population and human rights surveillance
- To appeal to the French government, the cradle of the declaration of human rights that it says is a priority axis in its foreign policy, to extend this priority to the whole world including Western Sahara.
- The release of Saharawi political prisoners detained in Moroccan prisons and respect for international humanitarian law in their treatment.
