Brahim Ghali, Secretary General of the Polisario Front and president of the Saharawi Republic, in accordance with the constitution of the Republic, issued a presidential decree on Friday, November 13, 2020, according to which the end of the ceasefire is declared, after the violation of it by the Moroccan occupier, and consequently the resumption of hostilities in defense of the legitimate rights of the Sahrawi people.
This statement took place after the Kingdom of Morocco violated the ceasefire agreement on November 13, 2020, by attacking Sahrawi civilians who were peacefully demonstrating in front of the illegal breach of El Guerguerat, and after opening three new breaches inside the Moroccan military wall in a flagrant violation of military agreement No. 1. This agreement was signed between the Polisario Front and the Kingdom of Morocco under the supervision of the United Nations, as an implementation of Resolution 690 of 1991 of the Security Council to organize a referendum of self-determination for the Saharawi people. The declaration of the Saharawi president is based on the decisions of the extraordinary session of the political leadership of the Polisario Front, held on July 11, 2020, based on the powers conferred on it by the Fundamental Law of the Polisario Front.
The presidential decree orders the General Staff of the Saharawi Army to take all measures related to the implementation of the requirements of this decree within the jurisdiction assigned to it, and also ordered the National Security Authority, headed by the Prime Minister, to take measures related to the fulfillment of the directives of the state of war referred to the management and administration of the national institutions and bodies to guarantee the functioning of the fundamental services.
