HAVANA – APS.dz.- The Federation of Cuban Women welcomed, Wednesday, the “exemplary” struggle of Saharawi women who played an important role in the resistance so that the people of Western Sahara can enjoy their right to self-determination and independence.
On the occasion of a day of solidarity organized by the Federation of Cuban Women in coordination with the Embassy of the Saharawi Republic in Havana, the Federation highlighted the struggle of Saharawi women for freedom and independence.
The head of foreign affairs of the Federation of Cuban Women, Osmaida Arnández, praised the “exemplary” struggle of Saharawi women for independence.
For her part, the Deputy Secretary General of the Federation, Rosemarie Santisaivan, recalled the “exceptional” and “heroic” history of Saharawi women, expressing the Cuban Federation’s support for the struggle of Saharawi women for the freedom and sovereignty of the Saharawi people throughout the territory of Western Sahara.
During this day, a documentary was shown on the struggle of the Saharawi woman. She highlighted “the great role that Saharawi women have played in resistance, institutional construction and active participation to achieve national sovereignty”.
To conclude, the Saharawi ambassador, Ammar Boulsan, gave a detailed presentation of the history of the struggle of Saharawi women and the prominent place they have conquered.
The meeting also highlighted the struggle of Saharawi women in the occupied cities, such as Sultana Khaya and her family, “who exposed the barbarism and brutality of the Moroccan occupation regime”.
The event was attended by the delegate of the Communist Party of Cuba for foreign relations and the director for North Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, in addition to diplomats from African, Latin American and Caribbean countries, as well as representatives of Cuban associations and institutions.
