Bogota (Colombia), August 11, 2022 (SPS)- The President of the Republic of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, received at the Casa de Nariño the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic and envoy of President Brahim Gali, Mohamed salem Salek.
The Special Envoy of the President of the Republic conveyed to the Colombian leader a message from his Saharawi counterpart, Brahim Gali, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and the President of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee. Also present for the Saharawi side was Ambassador Mohamed Zrug, responsible for Latin America and the Caribbean.
After the meeting, the Colombian Foreign Ministry issued a statement in which it announced that: “The Government of the Republic of Colombia, inspired by the principles and purposes of the United Nations Charter, reaffirms the validity of the Joint Communiqué signed with the Government of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic on 27 February 1985”.
