(SPS) – The National Union of Saharawi Women, represented by the head of the Department of Foreign Relations, Mrs. Omaima Salima Ahmed, took part, on Monday, in the work of the 14th World Conference on Women, organised in the Mozambican capital of Maputo from 19 to 23 September.

The 14th International Conference on Women, organised under the theme “African Feminism – Building alternatives for women and the world through knowledge that concerns and resists”, opened in the Mozambican capital of Maputo, at the Eduardo Mondlane University, with the participation of several delegations representing organisations from different countries and continents of the world.

The conference aims to create a broad area of discussion, where the various actors and participants in the event, through constructive dialogue, exchange views and experiences on many issues of concern to women around the world, especially African women.

The work of the conference continues with the organisation of a series of workshops dealing with various women’s issues. The head of the Department of External Relations of the National Union of Saharawi Women, Mrs. Omaima Salima Ahmed, is expected to present a speech tomorrow, Tuesday, on the peaceful resistance of Saharawi women in their people’s just struggle for freedom and independence.
