His Excellency Ambassador Téte António, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received His Excellency Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, Special Envoy of the President of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic, at the Angolan diplomatic headquarters on Wednesday morning, 01 November.
Issues of the bilateral and multilateral agenda, of interest to the Angolan and Saharawi Democratic States, were the basis of the conversation between the Head of Angolan Diplomacy and Minister Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, Special Envoy and Counsellor of the President of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic.
During the audience, His Excellency Téte António reiterated Angola’s support for the cause and affirmation of the sovereignty of the Sahrawi Democratic people, on the continent and in the international arena, as well as ensuring continuous dialogue between the politicians of the two states, always using diplomatic means with a view to achieving state objectives and realising the wishes of the peoples.
For his part, His Excellency Mohamed Salem Ould Salek thanked Minister Téte António for his willingness to receive him and discuss matters of extreme interest to his country, but above all for having received the political guarantee of Angola’s firm support for the struggle for self-determination and self-affirmation of the Democratic Saharawi State, in all spheres of political and economic-social life.
The Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic claims sovereignty over Western Sahara, a former Spanish colony.
The Republic of Angola and the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic maintain excellent political-diplomatic relations and share common ideals, both bilaterally and at the level of the African Union.
