Final Declaration
International Parliamentary Network for Western Sahara Self-Determination
Done in Paris June 22nd 2018
We, as members of the International parliamentory network for the self-determination of Western Sahara, gathered today in Paris
Point out that the United Nations resolutions organisation:
Specify that Western Sahara is a Non-Self-Governing Territory
And for this reason the Western Sahara people has the right to self- determination
that this right to self determination of the Sahrawi people is inalienable
and that a referendum would exercise this inalienable right to self determination
We reaffirm that the struggle for the right to self-determination of the Sahrawi people must be enhanced,
We ask that in each country and all together through the different intergroups,
parliamentary friendship groups, solidarity associations and through this network, we shall contribute to mobilize our colleagues parliamentaries and our governments to implement a referendum for Western Sahara self-determination
We continue to be vigilant that in the meantime there will be no plundering of lands and natural resources inside the borders of Western Sahara, from Morocco, the occupying power
We highlight that solidarity with regards to Sahrawi political prisonners represent the obvious consequence of the involvement of International Parliamentary Network for Western Sahara Self-Determination.
We hope that this Network will allow us to collect information, intensify our parliamentary activity connected with this serious topic, and coordinate parliamentary actions at an international scale, as the UN coordination of petitioners during their plenary sessions of the fouth UN commission on “special policies and decolonisation “
We call upon each Parliamentarian in favour with the first objective to join us in our network, which creation was envisionned in the wings of the European Coordination Conference for the support of the Sahrawi People, held in Vitry- sur-Seine on the 20th, 21st and 22nd of October 2017.
We affirm that the International Parliamentary Network for Western Sahara self- determination will meet once a year with a rotating Presidency.
We declare that this network will be chaired by Jean-Paul Lecoq, from the French National Assembly and coordinated by a Steering Committee enhanced by the founding members of this Network. The Sahrawi Parliament will participate to the decisions and fonctions of this Steering Committee.
