Saharawi political prisoner Mohamed Bourial enters Hunger Strike

PUSL.- The family of Mohamed Bourial informed this morning that the political prisoner of Gdeim Izik group, Mohamed Bourial who was transferred to Tiflet2 last Friday 12th will enter an open hunger strike tomorrow.

In Tiflet2 there are now four of the Sahrawi political prisoners of the group of Gdeim Izik and all in hunger strike. El Bachir Khadda on hunger strike since 18 September, Abdallahi Abbahah since 1st October, Mohamed Lamin Haddi since 5th October and Mohamed Bourial will start on the 15th of October.

All prisoners have the same demands to be transferred to a prison near their families in El Aaiun, respect for their fundamental rights, and medical attention.

In Tiflet2 the prisoners are subjected to prolonged confinement, harassment, ill-treatment, and their basic rights are not respected. The families struggle to be able to visit them since Tiflet is over 1300km from El Aaiun. Read more

South African Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation on working visit to Sahrawi Republic

El-Aaiun (Refugee Camps), October 13, 2018 (SPS) – The Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa, Luwellyn Tyrone Landers, started on Saturday a working visit to the Saharawi Republic.

At the first stage of his visit, the Deputy Minister arrived in the wilaya of El-Aaiun, where the authorities and people of the Daira of Hagunia the wilaya honoured him with a great official and public reception, where he observed part of the celebrations of the 43rd Anniversary of National Unity Day.

In a speech in the wilaya of El-Aaiun, Mr. Landers praised the depth and strength of the bilateral relations between South Africa and the Saharawi Republic, which was reflected in the visit of the President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the POLISARIO Front, Brahim Ghali, to Pretoria recently, noting that his country is keen to complete the sovereignty in Africa by enabling the Saharawi people to the right to self-determination and independence, as happened in East Timor.

“We will endeavor so that the Sahrawi Republic become as an observer member of the United Nations pending its full integration as an independence and Free state in all its territory,” said Mr. Landers. Read more
