South African Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation on working visit to Sahrawi Republic


El-Aaiun (Refugee Camps), October 13, 2018 (SPS) – The Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa, Luwellyn Tyrone Landers, started on Saturday a working visit to the Saharawi Republic.

At the first stage of his visit, the Deputy Minister arrived in the wilaya of El-Aaiun, where the authorities and people of the Daira of Hagunia the wilaya honoured him with a great official and public reception, where he observed part of the celebrations of the 43rd Anniversary of National Unity Day.

In a speech in the wilaya of El-Aaiun, Mr. Landers praised the depth and strength of the bilateral relations between South Africa and the Saharawi Republic, which was reflected in the visit of the President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the POLISARIO Front, Brahim Ghali, to Pretoria recently, noting that his country is keen to complete the sovereignty in Africa by enabling the Saharawi people to the right to self-determination and independence, as happened in East Timor.

“We will endeavor so that the Sahrawi Republic become as an observer member of the United Nations pending its full integration as an independence and Free state in all its territory,” said Mr. Landers.

“Africa cannot consider itself free unless the people of Western Sahara are liberated, in compliance with the principles and the spirit of Mandela,” the South African official concluded.

Mr. Landers is accompanied by South African Ambassador to the Sahrawi Republic, Dennis Dlomo, a delegation from the South African Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation, and the Sahrawi Ambassador to South Africa, Al-Bashir Al-Saghir.

Shaheed Al-Hafed, October 14, 2018 (SPS) – Prime Minister, Mohammed Al-Wali Akeik, on Sunday received Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa, Luwellyn Tyrone Landers, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting focused on the regional and international situation of the Sahraw issue, where the firm position of South Africa towards the Sahrawi people and their just cause was reiterated.

The meeting was also an opportunity for the Prime Minister to brief Mr. Landers on the latest developments regarding the Sahrawi issue, stressing the important role of the South African State in defending the just Sahrawi cause.

Shaheed Al-Hafed, October 15, 2018 (SPS) – President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the POLISARIO Front, Brahim Ghali, received on Sunday at the Presidency of the Republic Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa, Luwellyn Tyrone Landers, who is on working visit in the Sahrawi Republic.

The firm position of South Africa in defending the just Sahrawi cause was stressed during the meeting.

The South African nation’s efforts to defend the unity of the continent were also appreciated, and the visit was considered brotherly visit between two allies with historical goals and principles in the struggle against all forms of colonialism.
