Morocco denounces acts of the Polisario, but the UN does not see any violation

United Nations, Jan 11 (lavanguardia.com) .- The UN confirmed today that it has received a letter from Morocco with denunciations of several recent actions of the Polisario Front, but considered that none of them constituted a violation of the ceasefire agreements .

The UN mission in the area, Minurso, was present in the alleged incidents and “did not observe anything that would constitute a violation under the terms of the applicable agreements,” spokesman Stéphane Dujarric told reporters.

The spokesman recalled that the Minurso has established procedures to observe this type of situation and that, when it identifies violations, it immediately shares them with the parties so that they respond and notifies them to the UN Security Council. Read more

New York, January 10, 2019 (SPS) – The President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali informed the UN Secretary General about the destruction of the last arsenal of land mines stored by the Polisario Front.

Brahim Ghali added, in his letter, that “The destruction of the arsenal of landmines is a clear sign of the Polisario Front’s willingness to collaborate in the cleanup of the landmines that sow terror, especially in the liberated part of Western Sahara” . Read more
