PUSL.- On February 25, 26 and 27, the 1st Conference on University Cooperation with Western Sahara takes place in the Saharawi Refugee Camps on the occasion of the celebration of the anniversary of the International Seminar of Universities where the founding of the University of Tifariti was proposed .
The University of Tifariti is an institution under the Ministry of Education of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), and is located in Tifariti, in the liberated territories of Western Sahara.
The Conference aims to contribute to the development of the Tifariti University by jointly reflecting on the challenges of universities in the near future, expanding cooperation relations and South-South and North-South academic dialogue, and defining a strategy of university cooperation that leads to its definitive consolidation.
According to Prof. Jatari Hamudi, Rector of the University of Tifariti the international conference has the participation of over sixteen universities in Africa and Europe.
This conference aims to expand international cooperation with the University of Tifariti.
The University has more than 56 cooperation agreements with the same number of universities, among which are 31 Spanish universities.
The work of the conference has been divided into four groups: the viability of the University of Tifariti; the second on issues of mobility of teachers, students, researchers, administrative staff; the third on the emphasis on human rights and self-determination and the involvement of universities in denouncing it, breaking the imposed of silence; finally, the fourth on issues of online teaching, face-to-face and other issues related to this subject.
Online education was also discussed, an education that adapts to the situation of exile and occupation in which the Saharawi people live.
