Communique of the family of Mr. BOURIAL, prisoner of the group known as GDEIM IZIK
PUSL.- Mr Mohamed BOURIAL has been imprisoned in Morocco since 2010 following the dismantling of the so-called Gdeim Izik camp. He was sentenced to 30 years in the absence of any evidence other than confessions extracted under torture.
Despite his requests to investigate the torture he has suffered, the Kingdom of Morocco has never conducted an impartial investigation, nor stop cruel and inhuman treatment against him. These treatments have continued after his transfer to the prison of Tiflet2 – in March 2018 – in which he is now placed in isolation, deprived of visit, in a precarious state of health and without any medical attention at all. It is in this context that he mandated through his family his Lawyer to file a communication to the UN Committee against Torture in November 2018.
In order to see the situation evolve, Mohamed has decided to start a hunger strike with the main demand for protection by the highest international authorities against any form of torture or inhuman treatment.
Since the start of its hunger strike on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, the situation has worsened. It is now a dry strike, ie without water, because this resource has been withdrawn, it seems in retaliation.
It is therefore urgent that the situation evolves before it carries irreversible consequences.
Respectfully, the family of Mr. Bourial who support his fair demands
