PUSL.- Saharawi political prisoner Lahoucine Amaadour (Saharawi name Husein Bachir Brahim) entered a hunger strike on April 9th against the extreme ill treatment and also the arbitrary denial of family visits.
The student leader was handed out to the Moroccan authorities in Nadour , Morocco, on 17th January by the Spanish authorities who expelled Amaadour after his arrival in Canaries Island without due process after his request for political asylum.
On arrival in Nadour, the young man was subjected to a first interrogation by the Moroccan authorities, based on the search and arrest warrant.
According to the information of the family Amaadour refused to sign the documents that were presented to him since the content does not correspond to his statements.
The questions focused on his political and student activity and his opinion on the conflict in Western Sahara and which Saharawi activists he knows.
The same type of interrogation was repeated in Casablanca, where according to the family, Amaadour denounced being beaten. Once more he refused to sign any documents.
On 21 January Amaadour was presented to the King’s Procuratorate in Marrakesh and sent to the Oudaya prison in Marrakesh.
On 29th January 2019 he was presented to Judge of Instruction for the detailed interrogation.
On 11th February 2019 Mohammed Rgueibi, Hamza Rami, Ibrahim Almasih, Ahmed Abba Ali, 4 students of the Group El Uali who were sentenced to 3 years in 2016 and released in January 2019, were presented to the investigative judge to make new declarations concerning Amaadour.
They signed their declaration but were not it given a copy. According to the investigative judge due the confidentiality of the process they could not have a copy.
Mr. Amaadour is currently in an overcrowded cell with 21 prisoners that have already been sentenced. Some of the prisoners have contagious diseases.
After 87 days of arbitrary detention he is still awaiting trial.
