The trade union co.bas calls for UN support against brutal Moroccan repression in Western Sahara

PUSL.- The Union of Canary Base Commissions (Co. Bas) urges the Spanish government to request the “URGENT” intervention of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres “to investigate the death of young Saharawi Sabah Azman Heimad and end repression against the Saharawi civilian population in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.

From the Union of the Canary Base Commissions (Co. Bas) we have asked the Spanish government, as a member of the human rights council, to request the “URGENT” intervention of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres “to investigate the death of the young Saharawi Sabah Azman Heimad and put an end to the repression against the Saharawi population in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.

On July 19, hundreds of Saharawis took to the streets to celebrate the victory in the African Cup of the nations of Algeria. Moroccan occupation forces have increased repression from that moment on with arbitrary arrests and looting of houses of Saharawi activists and their families, sowing terror among the population.

Association of Friends of SADR – France: In occupied Western Sahara, cruel repression against Saharawi civilians

PUSL.- This Saturday, July 20, 2019, the Sahrawi living in the main cities of Western Sahara occupied by Morocco wanted, as many other African fans, to celebrate the victory of the Algerian team at the African Cup of Nations.

But the celebration does not seem possible in occupied Western Sahara, especially in the capital city of El Aaiun. Indeed the Moroccan forces of repression always present in the city were unleashed against a crowd that came to celebrate this victory.

Water cannons, military gear, police and military forces clashed with this peaceful crowd. A 23-year-old woman, Sabah OTHMAN AMEIDA, lost her life, crushed by a vehicle that hit the crowd at full speed. Several women were also injured in the face and did not have access to care as the hospital was closed.

Solidarity with the Saharawi People – Saharawi People’s Friendship and Solidarity Association (Brasil)

PUSL.- In the face of yet another brutal and cowardly attack by the Moroccan security forces against the Saharawi people, which resulted in deaths and injuries last week, we express solidarity and support to the fighters who oppose the genocidal plan of the King of Morocco, which has done everything to annex the territory of Western Sahara, oppressing the population, murdering and imprisoning Saharawi leaders, and ignoring UN resolutions to end the more than 40-year conflict in the region.

We express our solidarity with the families of young Saharawi Sabah Azman Hamida, cowardly killed by the security forces of King Mohamed VI, during the last demonstrations in El Aaiun and Dajla, where the Saharawi people continue to fight for the country’s independence and the release of political prisoners.

All the support for the Saharawi people and the struggle for independence and freedom of Western Sahara!
