PUSL.- According to information received by PUSL from Saharawi activist Hmad Hamad, the Saharawi population broke the iron siege imposed by the Moroccan occupation forces in the city of El Aaiun and took to the streets to celebrate the Saharawi Unity Day, the day commemorating the adherence of all Saharawis to the principles of the Polisario Front and their total willingness to sacrifice and armed struggle for the liberation and independence of Western Sahara.
The demonstration took place in the well-known Colominas district, close to the Al Massira hotel and very close to a Moroccan Gendarmerie police station, sadly known among Saharawi activists as a place of arrest and torture on countless occasions.
The Moroccan occupant before Gdeim Izik camp’s anniversary on October 8 and the Saharawi Unity Day filled the city with the displacement of numerous troops and military vehicles, with the intention of containing the Saharawi population and thus preventing it from expressing itself, its rejection of the occupation and its adhesion to the Polisario Front, shouting slogans in favor of the independence of Western Sahara.
