PCP MEP questions Morgherini about arbitrary arrest of Saharawi activist Mahfouda Elfakir

PUSL.- The Written Question by Sandra Pereira, MEP of the PCP (Portuguese Communist Party), addressed today to Federica Mogherini, EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security, questions the circumstances of the arrest of Saharawi activist Mahfouda Elfakir who was detained in the courtroom of El Aaiun last November 15th.

Elfakir was attending the trial of her 15-year-old cousin, who was sentenced to one month in prison for celebrating Algeria’s victory in the African Cup of Nations.

Mahfouda Elfakir was beaten by the authorities, was heard by the Moroccan prosecutor without a lawyer present and was denied the daily supply of medicines she needed.
