PUSL.- Moroccan occupation forces kidnapped Balbeit Elkhatat on 12 March in the buffer zone between Western Sahara and Mauritania.
Morocco violated the ceasefire agreement by making a foray to kidnap a Saharawi citizen who does not live in Morocco or in occupied Western Sahara. This illegal action that violates the ceasefire agreement and international law was carried out in broad daylight in the area allegedly monitored by MINURSO – United Nations Mission in the Field.
Elkhatat was brutally beaten as shown in the photo and taken to an unknown location.
The Saharawi is known for his activism and last year he protested in the buffer zone in Guergarat against the movement of Moroccan trucks in that area.
There is no international arrest warrant against Elkhatat and we are waiting for the United Nations’ position in this case.
The United Nations has guided its action with total indifference to the multiple violations of the cease fire agreement by Morocco.
