PUSL.- The mother of Saharawi political prisoner Abdallah Abbahah of the Gdeim Izik Group, currently detained in Tiflet2 and sentenced to life imprisonment made an appeal to the International community.
In this appeal on audio version in Hassania (Saharawi language), Mamia denounces the plight of her son, the other prisoners and the Saharawi people at the hands of the Moroccan occupier.
“I’m one of the mothers of the political prisoners from the Gdeim-Izik group. The innocent prisoners of Gdeim-Izik who were arrested although they are innocent and are still locked up and tortured to this day. Those who can hear, see and empathize should stand by our side, our sons have reached the bottom.”
“I am Abbahah Abdallah’s mother and haven’t heard from him for 20 days. He was tortured, insulted, and they stepped on his clothes only for speaking a little to me. One of them even wanted to beat him up.”
Mamia goes on explaining how the Gdeim Izik prisoners who were imprisoned in 2010 and 2011 are innocent, but are still imprisoned after all these years and still suffer from ill treatment.
“It is probably not enough, that’s why they put them put behind 7 locks and despite this they are still tortured behind the doors and 7 locks. But that’s how they (the Moroccans) are and that’s how they act. You can see what is being done to the Saharawi women on the streets, and yet (the Moroccans) they are not intimidated, are not afraid of the consequences and do neither accept nor obey any law. They are torturers and the type of torture my son has experienced is indescribable.”
The mother of Abbahah describes a small part of the torture her son was subjected to by the Moroccan authorities:
“He was hung by his feet and hung on the wall and they peed on him and was beaten …. what he experienced is indescribable as well as the rest of the prisoners.
You, Muslims, Atheists, Christians, Jews, Africans, Europeans and people who can empathize, see and hear, help us, help us, save us, we are finished!”
She also explains what is happening in the occupied territories “You see what happens to the women in front of their houses, they are beaten up (by the Moroccans). You can see the whole situation, help us, save us.!”
Abbahah is in prolonged solitary confinement since his transfer to Tiflet2 prison three years ago, also Mohamed Lamin Haddi and El Bachir Khadda other two prisoners of the Gdeim Izik group are in Tiflet2 in prolonged solitary confinement since September 2017.
All three of them have made several hunger strikes for 40 days demanding the transfer from this prison, Mohamed Lamin Haddi started his last open hunger strike on the 13th of January 2021. These political prisoners are incommunicado for over 20 days.
Also Mamia told us last Saturday: “I haven’t spoken to him for 20 days and haven’t heard a sound from him, after they insulted him and undignified us too. They use swearwords that only they can use, we don’t know anything like that. They only know swearwords like that, there is not much to be expected. We haven’t harmed anyone, we are innocent.”
Mamia appeals and describes the situation of Mohamed Lamin Haddi’s mother: ” she has been moving from one authority to another for 2-3 weeks, but no one came to meet her or showed her sympathy. They didn’t care about her and treated her cold-heartedly,…….. such people have no feelings let alone compassion and it does not matter whether they are women, children or the elderly. Have you seen older men having their teeth knocked out who are not even able to get up on their own? Did you see what happened to the women?”
“You people from all over the world help us, stand by us, save us, we are finished. I spoke to my son for the last time 20 days ago, I don’t know how he is after he was taken apart / tortured.
They (the Moroccans) have taken the rights from the Saharawi and for them the Saharawi their enemies, which is why they do everything to the Saharawi (torture, beatings, arrests etc ..).
This is nothing new for us, the whole thing has been going on since 1975 and we have been and are patient. Patience is the key.”
