PUSL.- Polisario asks the Government to clarify whether Western Sahara is included in the territorial integrity of Morocco
The Polisario Front’s delegate in Spain warned today at a press conference in Madrid that, if Spain considers Western Sahara to be included in the territorial integrity of Morocco, this “is very serious” and is contrary to international law.
Arabi, Polisario’s representative for Spain, considered that this position is “far from helping”, and represents “four steps back” in the solution.
Thus, the Polisario Front delegate asked the Spanish government to clarify whether when it mentions “territorial integrity” in the letter to Mohamed VI, it includes Western Sahara in relation to Morocco.
This new direction and premises from President Sanchez during the visit to Rabat last week include dangerous concepts according to Arabi.
Sánchez’s position “seriously complicates the work of the UN special envoy Staffan de Mistura”, says Arabi, who regretted Spain’s decision to “support Morocco” against Saharawi interests.
According to Arabi, Spain, by allying itself with Morocco, put an end to a consensus that had lasted for 46 years, placing itself outside international legality and excluding itself from the role of mediator in the conflict.
