We are going to use all the constitutional and political resources so that Spain’s position on Western Sahara once again supports the Saharawi people in their claim for self-determination, Santiago assured.
The leader of the PC has headed this Friday a PCE delegation that has gone to the headquarters of the Polisario Front for Spain, to convey to the representative Abdullah Arabi the majority will of the Congress of Deputies in favor of defending a solution to the conflict in accordance with the resolutions of the UN and to defend the self-determination of the Saharawi people.
According to Santiago, the Government must know that the only constitutional resolution there is is that of the Congress of Deputies and it is unequivocal and very clear, as evidenced by the fact that all the groups except the socialist voted in favor of a non-law proposal in these terms.
The representative of the Polisario Front thanked the support and asked the Government of Pedro Sánchez to rectify the decision to support the Moroccan proposal for autonomy for the Sahara, which does not reflect the broad sentiment of Spanish society.
Arabi has assured that he will continue working and meeting with all the political groups to show that the decision of the Government of Spain has not reflected the widely shared feeling of support for the Saharawi cause of Spanish society, that they do not understand or share the turn of the President Sanchez.
