Parliamentary Front of Friendship Peru-Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic created

(SPS) – Several members of Congress of the Republic of Peru have created a new group of solidarity with the Saharawi Republic, in a statement released Wednesday.

“In line with the provisions of Resolution 1514 of the United Nations General Assembly, also known as the Declaration on Decolonisation, which promotes the end of colonialism in all its expressions and recognises the self-determination of all peoples, diplomatic relations between the Republic of Peru and the SADR were re-established on 8 September 2021, through Official Communiqué 017-21. This action was an expression of solidarity with the struggle of the Saharawi people, who to this day continue to defend the sovereignty and independence of their territory,” the statement said.

In this sense, the Peruvian congresswoman Sigrid Bazán Narro said that, “in order to strengthen bilateral relations with the Saharawi people and in solidarity with the struggle for their sovereignty and independence of their territory, we announce today the creation of the Parliamentary Front of Friendship Peru-Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR)”.
