cgtp.pt.- Sultana Khaya, one of the most visible faces of the resistance to the occupation of the Western Sahara Territories by the Kingdom of Morocco, is visiting Portugal at the invitation of the MDM – Women’s Democratic Movement on the occasion of the XI Congress, to be held on 29, in Lisbon.
During the meeting, Sultana Khaya explained the situation of the Saharawi people in the territories occupied by Morocco for 47 years, such as the lack of opportunities for young Saharawis to access employment or the lack of freedom and the extremely violent repression to which they are subjected by the invading country.
She also exposed her own experience of persecution, house arrest and sexual violence to which she has been subjected by the Moroccan military since she took up the struggle for self-determination for her people.
The CGTP-IN reiterated its solidarity with the cause of the Sharawi people for self-determination and announced the various actions which, together with the CPPC, it has undertaken to raise the awareness of workers and the population to this serious problem, while guaranteeing the organisation of further solidarity actions with the Saharawi people.
