Riyadh, (Prensa Latina) Morocco failed in its attempts to introduce the Western Sahara issue at the Arab-China Summit that concluded today in the Saudi Arabian capital.
According to reports, the Moroccan delegation tried to put on the table its alleged right over the occupied territories of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic, a proposal that was ignored and excluded from the agenda and the final document.
The summit, hosted by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia and Chinese President Xi Jinping, adopted a joint action plan for the period 2023-2027 with an emphasis on continuing dialogue and supporting international economic recovery.
Politically, they expressed their unanimous condemnation of terrorism, whatever its origin, and called for combating extremism, as well as preventing the financing and recruitment of armed groups that threaten the security of the region and its stability.
The final 18-point declaration included the need to support the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and to achieve a just solution to the cause of the Palestinian people in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
As well as the situation in Yemen, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon and Afghanistan, and urged support for international efforts to calm and find a political solution to end the conflict in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, this Friday it was known that international organisations and bodies from South Sudan demanded the expulsion of Morocco from the African Union for its constant violations in the occupied Saharawi territories, violating the founding articles of the body and the resolutions of the United Nations.
