PUSL.- Pier Antonio Panzeri, the president of the NGO “Fight Impunity”, is deeply involved in the European Parliament Corruption Scandal.
Curiously the NGO according to its own information, fights against corruption. Panzeri is a quite prominent figure in Italy and a former MEP for the Social Democrats.
According to “Politico”, the investigating authorities accuse Panzeri of having “intervened in favour of Qatar and Morocco” with members of the European Parliament. His daughter and wife are under house arrest, and the offices of several parliamentary staff members close to the NGO have been searched.
Panzeri is considered well connected in Brussels.
The board members of the NGO are Former French Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve, former EU Migration Commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos, former parliamentarian Cecilia Wikström, former EU Foreign Affairs Commissioner Federica Mogherini, Emma Bonino Senator in the Italian parliament and former European commissioner, as well as Isabel Santos MEP since 2019, Chair of the Delegation for relations with the Mashreq countries, Member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, and the Subcommittee on Human Rights.
Besides the board members with ties to the European Parliament also Nobel Prize winner Denis Mukwege and Haydee Silvia Contrafatto an Argentinian Lawyer are part of the Board of the NGO.
According to the German Magazine Der Spiegel some of those member cut their ties with the organisation over this weekend.
