ALGIERS. APS.dz.- The president of the Higher Council of Youth – Algeria (CSJ), Mustapha Hidaoui, affirmed, Wednesday in Algiers, the support of the Algerian youth to the just Saharawi cause.
In a statement to APS on the sidelines of his participation in a forum of solidarity with the Saharawi people entitled: “Western Sahara, the last colony of Africa”, organised by the association “Michaal Echahid” on the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of the adoption by the UN General Assembly (GA) of the Declaration on the granting of independence to colonised countries and peoples, Hidaoui affirmed that the Algerian youth support the Saharawi cause. Hidaoui affirmed that young Algerians, “worthy heirs of the brave revolutionaries, will continue to defend the just cause of Western Sahara”.
“Solidarity with the Saharawi people is inspired by one of the constants of the Algerian people, namely support for all just causes of liberation”, Mr Hidaoui declared, recalling that Algeria “has supported the Saharawi question from the beginning and does not cease to express its unconditional solidarity with this cause”.
In this context, Mr Hidaoui said he was confident that “the young Algerian has shown that he is aware of the lies and accusations levelled against Algeria”. He gave a lesson to the world during the popular Hirak, confirming that he would not be swayed by such lucubrations.
Referring to “certain black sheep who try to undermine the will of Algerians to support just causes”, Hidaoui expressed his disappointment that “certain parties abroad attack Algeria by relying on the Makhzen and other terrorist movements hostile to Algeria”.
For their part, the participants in this conference insisted on the need to apply international charters and resolutions to put an end to the flagrant violations of human rights, perpetrated by the Moroccan occupier against the Saharawis in the occupied territories, and to allow the Saharawi people to exercise their right to self-determination and independence.
In this sense, the ambassador of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) in Algeria, Abdelkader Taleb Omar, expressed the need to inform international public opinion of the situation in which the Saharawi people live so that the necessary measures are taken to put an end to these serious violations committed by the Moroccan occupation.
The Saharawi diplomat said that Morocco’s inability to legitimise its occupation of the Saharawi territories and to take the issue out of its legal framework (cause of decolonisation), has pushed the Makhzen authorities to seek other means to cover this failure, including normalisation with the usurping Zionist entity, which, contrary to all Moroccan predictions, “has caused more problems both internally and externally”.
Despite the continuing human rights violations and the security approach adopted by Morocco in the occupied territories, “the Saharawi people remain determined to continue the armed struggle and express their pride in the consistent positions of friendly countries that continue to defend just causes”, Mr. Taleb Omar declared.
For his part, the former diplomat and moudjahid Noureddine Djoudi held the UN Security Council responsible for the non-resolution of the conflict in Western Sahara and the non-implementation of UN resolutions affirming the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination.
For his part, the former minister, Mahieddine Amimour insisted on the importance of international organisations, especially those concerned with human rights, becoming aware that the treatment of international causes must be done in an honest and objective manner, and renouncing the policy of “double standards”, pointing at the same time to the role of the African Union (AU) in the protection of the right of the Saharawi people.
For her part, constitutional law expert Souilah Boudjemaa said that Algeria played an important role in the adoption of Resolution 1514, known as the UN “Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonised Countries and Peoples”, stressing that “the Algerian Revolution is a reference for liberation movements and the recovery of the rights of peoples”.
He added that the Saharawi people fought against the Spanish occupation and continue their struggle against the Moroccan occupier, which confirms “their right to fight for their self-determination and independence”.
Souilah also indicated that the resolutions of the International Security Council “have never been implemented”, such as resolution 1514.
For his part, the deputy of the National Popular Assembly (APS), Badaoui Tamime, denounced the media blockade on what is happening in the occupied Saharawi territories, insisting that “a real mobilisation is imperative to confront the practices of the Moroccan occupation, in collusion with certain parties”.
At the end of this conference, the president of the Machaâl Echahid Association, Mohamed Abad, revealed that next February a football tournament will be organised in honour of the Saharawi Shahid and symbol El-Ouali Mustapha Sayed.
