Mohamed Fadel Daoudi - negligencia médica provocó muerte de preso saharaui en prisión preventiva
Equipe Media.- Mohamed Fadel Daoudi, an elderly Saharawi man in his 70s, was reportedly arrested on 17 June 2022 at the police station and subsequently transferred to the prison of El Aaiun and detained for several months.

The facts date back to 15 November 2021, when Mohamed Fadel had heard his son arguing with three Moroccan youths who were attacking his car right next to the house.

After a brief scuffle, the old man attacked one of the attackers with a baton, hitting him in the head and stomach. The injured man was taken to hospital.

Daoudi was summoned by the police and imprisoned in the local prison of El Aaiun. He was never tried.

Suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure, the detainee was sent to the hospital in El Aaiun on 9 January 2023, but he died the same day.

The family, outraged, organised a demonstration the next day, 10 January, to have an independent enquiry into the circumstances of his death. Mohamed Fadel was sent to hospital too late, although he had been complaining about his suffering for a long time.
