The Saharawi NGO, CODESA, issued an urgent appeal asking the International Red Cross and the United Nations for protection for the political prisoner “Houcein Bachir Amamdour”.
CODESA warns that the Saharawi political prisoner, “Houcein Bachir Amamdour” continues his hunger strike for 28 consecutive days, in a serious state of health, in a critical condition due to serious complications resulting from this hunger strike and of systematic medical negligence, which may result in serious consequences that could threaten his right to life and to physical and mental security.
CODESA is therefore sounding the alarm concerning the situation of all Saharawi political prisoners in various Moroccan prisons, demands that:
First: The International Committee of the Red Cross and international human rights organisations intervene urgently to save the life of the Saharawi political prisoner “El Hussein El Bashir Amaadour”.
Second: that the United Nations put pressure on the Moroccan occupation forces to implement Opinion No. 67/2019, adopted by the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention at its 86th session on 18 November 2019, which calls for the release of Sahrawi political prisoners who are students.
