Johannesburg (South Africa), August 24, 2023 (SPS) – The President of the Republic, the Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, addressed, in his speech during the “BRICS Summit” before the leaders of the participating countries, that Africa, as a continent abounding with enormous wealth, will not achieve progress unless it gets rid of colonialism and its remnants in all countries of the continent.
The President of the Republic expressed his appreciation for the kind invitation received by the Sahrawi Republic as a founding member of the African Union, for the generous hospitality and good reception that the Sahrawi delegation received, and for the wonderful conditions that South Africa provided for the success of this achievement, the BRICS/AU Summit.
He also indicated that the African continent possesses enormous capabilities with its vital youth, and its land abounds with enormous wealth, but it has suffered and continues to suffer from marginalization and even from exploitation and indebtedness, which impoverished many of its countries and prevented their economic and social growth.
It should be noted that the BRICS group invited six more countries to join their alliance. They are: Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Their membership will take effect on January 1, 2024.
