A landmine exploded under a civilian car near the occupied city of Dakhla.

Mina terrestre explota bajo un coche civil en la zona de Hassi Bouguefa, en las afueras de la ciudad ocupada de Dajla.

According to information from the Collective of Saharawi Human Rights Defenders in Western Sahara (CODESA) on 30 August last, a landmine exploded under a civilian car in the area of Hassi Bouguefa, on the outskirts of the occupied city of Dakhla.

The explosion injured an elderly Saharawi civilian, Laâroussi Emmad EL-IDRISSI, the driver of the car, who was seriously injured and burned in several parts of his body.

He was transferred to a hospital in the occupied city of Dakhla, and from there to a hospital in the occupied city of El Aaiun, to be later transferred to a hospital specialised in the treatment of burns in the city of Casablanca/Morocco.

The explosion also completely destroyed and burnt the car.

According to eyewitnesses, the victim’s state of health remains very serious and he should have been transferred quickly to a hospital specialised in the treatment of burns, instead of being left for more than 48 hours in hospitals that do not have all the medical resources necessary to treat this type of injury.
