UNMS participates in the XIII International Meeting of the World March of Women

Ankara (Turkey), 10 October 2023 (SPS) – The National Union of Saharawi Women (UNMS) is participating in the 13th International Meeting of the World March of Women, which is being held from 6 to 12 October this year in the Turkish city of Ankara.

The meeting is an opportunity to discuss women’s issues in the political, social and economic spheres in the light of the political transformations that the world is experiencing.

The UNMS has had a prominent participation, whose main objective is to shed light on the long struggle of Saharawi women for freedom and independence, with a delegation composed of the Chargée d’Affaires et de Coopération of the organisation, Ms. Maima Salima, and the Director of the Department of Training and Promotion of Women, Ms. Dauja Mohamed Sidi.

The delegation of the National Union of Saharawi Women held several meetings with numerous participants from the five continents on the struggle of Saharawi women for over 47 years, highlighting the serious violations suffered by Saharawi women under the weight of the Moroccan occupation and the participation of Saharawi women in the construction of the institutions and structures of the Saharawi State.

During the forum, the International March, in collaboration with the National Union of Saharawi Women, presented a book on the Saharawi women’s march under the title Lucha, una historia de mujer (Struggle, a woman’s story).
