BUENOS AIRES-. The Argentine Network of Communicators for the Decolonization of Western Sahara has expressed its strongest repudiation of the campaign orchestrated by Morocco in an attempt to link the POLISARIO Front with terrorist organizations.
In a statement , the Argentine Network of Communicators for the Decolonisation of Western Sahara points out that the aim of ‘this campaign is to manipulate historical facts to construct a narrative that deliberately ignores the illegal occupation of Western Sahara and the legitimate struggle of the Polisario Front for the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic to cease to be the last colony of Africa and one of the 17 territories pending decolonisation (like the Falkland Islands) as indicated by the Special Committee on Decolonisation or Special Committee of the United Nations (UN), charged with monitoring and advancing the process of decolonisation of Non-Self-Governing Territories under the administration of colonial powers, with a view to bringing an end to colonialism’.
‘Statements of this kind, plagued by false information and sources of dubious origin, constitute a crude manoeuvre to criminalise the legitimate struggle of the Saharawi people for their right to freedom, independence and self-determination. The lie only serves the expansionist interests of the Moroccan dictatorship’, it adds.
The Argentine Network of Communicators for the Decolonisation of Western Sahara recalls that ‘systematic defamation, lying statements, press operations and the deliberate omission of international law cannot change the will of the Saharawi people and its national liberation movement, the Polisario Front, to fight for the right to self-determination, as endorsed by fundamental resolutions of the Security Council and the UN General Assembly, the African Union, the European Union and the 84 countries that recognise the Saharawi Republic.
‘The Argentine Network of Communicators for the Decolonisation of Western Sahara alerts the international community to the danger posed by this type of defamatory campaign, whose sole purpose is to weaken the efforts for a peaceful, just and lasting solution for Western Sahara, in accordance with international law and UN resolutions’, the statement said.
