Letters to Gdeim Izik

Message of support to the Sahrawi prisoners of the Gdeim Izik Group

The group known as Gdeim Izik , is composed of 25 Sahrawi activists that were arrested after Gdeim Izik’s peaceful protest camp in November 2010.

In February 2013, this group was tried in a military court, sentences ranging from 20 years to life imprisonment.

After three years of protests, reports and solidarity actions, in which the international community condemned this illegal trial, Morocco decides to Bring the court case in front of a civilian court. 21 detainees are charged and tried again for the same charges, two are tried again after they have been released with time served, one is on provisional release, and the last of the group Gdeim Izik was trialed in absentia at the Military Court and is currently with political asylum in Spain. This is process full of irregularities, in an extraterritorial court, with accusations based on testimonies obtained under torture, and the court case entails a large number of illegalities that demonstrate the intention of Morocco to prolong in time the trial with the pretension of weakening the iron will of these Saharawi fighters and human rights activists .

Show your solidarity and support with their just cause by sending them a message. The messages will be sent to the prisoners. More than ever, everyone’s support is needed.
