Iceland reaffirms support to Saharawi self determination during visit of President Ghali

PUSL / SPS.- Katrin Jakobsdóttir Prime Minister of Iceland, who received the President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali, expressed on Wednesday her country’s support for the efforts towards a solution based on respect for international legality and United Nations resolutions for Western Sahara.

The meeting focused on the latest developments on this issue and the United Nations efforts to bring the process of decolonization of Western Sahara to a successful conclusion, in addition to the action of the personal envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General, ex-president Horst Köhler, to find a solution to allow the Saharawi people to exercise their right to self-determination and independence.

Furthermore, the Saharawi President informed the prime minister of the intransigence of the Kingdom of Morocco and the violation of the latter of its commitments concerning the holding of the referendum of self-determination, as agreed by the parties under the supervision of the Security Council. President of the Republic of Ireland receives high-level Saharawi delegation

Dublin (Ireland), March 7, 2019 (SPS) – The President of the Republic of Ireland, Michael DHiggins, received a Saharawi delegation composed of the Delegate Minister for Europe and member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Sidati, and the Ambassador Counselor in Chancellery and member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Yeslem Beisat.

The reception, took place in the Presidency of Ireland, and the delegation delivered a message from the President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic and Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Gali, to his Irish counterpart, which addresses the latest political developments and progress in the peace process led by the UN.

In the framework of the official visit to Dublin, the Saharawi delegation had the opportunity to hold meetings with important political leaders of this European nation in order to strengthen bilateral relations and expose the position of the Saharawi government and the Polisario Front regarding the work in the process of decolonization and changes at the regional and continental levels. President of the Saharawi Republic begins an official visit to Cuba

Havana, December 3, 2018 (SPS) – The President of the Saharawi Republic and Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, arrived Sunday evening at the Republic of Cuba on a three-day official visit, during which he will meet with high authorities of the Cuban State.

The President was received by several Cuban government officials, headed by Mr. Rogelio Sierra Díaz, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, in the presence of Mr. Clara Bolido, Ambassador of Cuba accredited to the Saharawi Republic.

In the program of activities of the Saharawi President, includes, in addition to official talks with the Cuban authorities, the tribute to José Martí, the Cuban National Hero.

The president is accompanied by a delegation composed of Mansur Omar, Delegate Minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Latin America, Malainin Tganam Saharawi Ambassador in Cuba and Abdati Breika, Councilor of the Presidency. Read more

President of the SADR receives in Tifariti the credentials of the Ambassador of Zimbabwe

Tifariti (Sahrawi Liberated Territories), May 20, 2018 (SPS)

The President of the Republic received, on Sunday in the liberated town of Tifariti, the new Ambassador Edwin George Mandaza, who handed him copies of his credentials as Ambassador of the Republic of Zimbabwe to the SADR.

This is the third ambassador to present his credentials in the liberated Sahrawi territories after the ambassadors of Namibia and Cuba who presented their letters last March.

The Zimbabwean ambassador told reporters that his country maintains “strong historical relations with the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic” and added that these relations “can not be affected by anything.”

“Despite the distance between our two countries, the struggle for freedom and independence remains a principle that we have adopted for a long time,” said Mr. Mandaza, reiterating Zimbabwe’s support for the Polisario Front in its fight against the ocupation. Read more
