South Africa calls for the implementation of UN resolutions on Western Sahara

PUSL.- Cyril Ramaphosa, President of South African called today the UN to implement “without delay” the resolutions adopted in the framework of the settlement of the Western Sahara conflict, including those concerning the right to inalienable to the self-determination of the Saharawi people, reaffirming its support for the mediation efforts currently underway, by the personal envoy of the United Nations General Secretary, Horst Kohler, between the two parties in conflict, Morocco and the Polisario Front.

The speech of the South African President on the second day of the solidarity conference with the Saharawi people of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), in Pretoria, reaffirmed the aid and his country’s support to the Saharawi and to the United Nations for “the prompt implementation of the resolutions on the settlement of the Western Sahara conflict, including that providing for the right to self-determination of the Saharawi people”.
