The Moroccan state is blatantly harassing the Saharawi Organization against Occupation (ISACOM)
The so-called Public Prosecutor of the King at the Court of Appeal in El Aaiun issued a communiqué following the holding of the founding conference of the Saharawi Commission to Combat the Occupation, which was established in El-Aaiun / Western Sahara. This communication came in a language and tone of intimidation.
The declaration came to confirm the intransigence of the Moroccan state and its endeavour to exert efforts and confiscate the right of peaceful assembly and association in Western Sahara, which would perpetuate the growing repression of freedoms in the region.
In a preemptive and purposeful step aimed at braking the activities of the commission, this declaration came as a response by the Moroccan state that confronts human rights organisations and cadres in Western Sahara with the logic of prohibition and judicial follow-up, which is considered a violation of the law regulating Moroccan freedoms and a violation of the laws on organising peaceful assembly.
Whereas the Committee for Defending the Right to Self-Determination of the People of Western Sahara is following up on what is happening to the Saharawi Organ against Moroccan Occupation, ISACOM, it declares its absolute and illegitimate solidarity with the association and declares the following:
1. Its condemnation of the police siege policy witnessed at the homes of some of the founding human rights activists.
2. Demanding the immediate and unconditional lifting of the siege on the homes.
3. Demanding to stop the harassment that is defined by the circumstances of the establishment of the commission.
4. Its denunciation of the language of threats issued by the Moroccan judiciary, which adversely serves the right of peaceful assembly and association.
5. Its solidarity with the Saharawi Organ against Moroccan Occupation and considering the violations it affects applies to the human rights body in Western Sahara in general.
